90's Fashion That is Coming Back in

Just think Beverly Hills 90210, Clueless and American Apparel for style inspiration.

Chokers
I remember winning these at the arcade when I was little and I can't believe their making a comeback. We used to be able to get them for 25¢ and now stores like topshop are selling them for as much as 8$!

Mom Jeans
You don't need to drive a minivan to rock these. Paired with an oversized t-shirt, black belt, white socks and a pair of cool sneakers and you have entered the 90's.

Platform Sneakers
The higher the better (within reason)

Scrunchies
These are probably the comfiest thing you can tie your hair up in.

Overalls
I'm starting to think the 90's were all about comfort because here's another comfy trend. What is better than being able to pull on a pair of overalls and immediately look trendy. This is probably the easiest trend to pull off, just pair them with a pair of converse and crop top.

Jelly sandals
I think we all had these as kids and loved them. paired with a cute sundress and even a pair of frilly socks you could relive your childhood in style.

Travelling

A glance at what my 2 hours at the airport consisted of + my laptop

I'm currently on vacation in Washington D.C. to sightsee and do some back to school shopping. I've only been here a few days but I have fallen in love with the city. Down town is so pretty and the architecture is amazing, I love the mix of old and new. I've been out all day for the past two days and today I finally got to relax, I was reluctant at first since there is so much I want to do in such little time but my feet definitely needed a break. I'm glad I have been wearing my birkenstocks though! I would recommend them to anyone who wants comfort on vacation. The shopping here is amazing, there is an American Apparel, H&M, Zara and Forever 21 all in walking distance from my hotel. The Forever 21 is three stories high and I've already been three separate times. I promise it's not an addiction! I'll be posting a haul when I'm back home of all my purchases, I'm hoping to get most of the things on my back to school list I posted a few days ago (or was it a week ago? - can't remember) Yesterday we took a bus tour to Georgetown and it's breathtaking! The buildings are all really old but very well kept. I think I found my dream neighbourhood.

If you're ever in the D.C. area I would highly recommend you visit Georgetown. The best part is the shopping on Wisconsin Ave, just some of the higher end stores include Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Coach and Michael Kors. Although it's not all high end designers there's also Urban Outfitters, Gap, Anthropologie and J. Crew.

I'm going to continue exploring now! Talk to you all soon!

Gym Essentials

I've decided to post about fitness as well as fashion and beauty because I feel as though they go hand in hand. Working out and keeping fit can improve you lifestyle and make you so much happier! Today I'm posting my gym bag essentials, enjoy!

1. A good pair of gym shoes
A good pair of training shoes are an essential for the gym. There is such a huge variety of gym shoes on the market these days and choosing the right ones can a bit overwhelming.  Try going to a specialized sports store and telling the sales associate exactly what you need your shoes for, they will help you pick out the best shoes for your needs.

2. Shower flip flops
If you shower at the gym a pair of shower sandals are a must have. Trust me, you do not want to contract anything from the floor of a communal shower.

3. Flight 001 go clean gym gear bag
This bag is for your sweaty post workout clothes to transport them home stink free. It's probably one of the best gym inventions ever so that your sweaty clothes don't touch the rest of your belongings in your gym bag.

4. Tunes
Music makes any workout way more enjoyable and fun. An iPod shuffle with a clip on the back is perfect for working out since it doesn't require pockets and is extremely lightweight.

5. Shower products
This one's pretty self explanatory, shampoo, conditioner and body wash if you take a shower at the gym.

6. Hair elastics
Keeping extra hair elastics in your gym bag in the event that you forget to grab one on your way out the door is a lifesaver.

7. Water bottle
Drinking water during and after a workout is the best thing you an do. Many people think that sports drinks like gatorade are but they are loaded with sugar and most of the time you don't need them. http://life.nationalpost.com/2013/07/09/jennifer-sygo-obey-your-thirst-just-not-necessarily-with-a-sports-drink/

8. Gym bag
This is a pretty obvious one, I mean where are you going to put all your stuff?

 9. Post workout snack
A homemade smoothie is a good option because you know exactly what your putting into you body and it can give you a good boost after a tiring workout.

10. Workout clothes
Workout clothes are completely preference but I feel like certain shorts are designed for different uses. If I'm going to the gym to do a strength workout I will wear spandex shorts because there is nothing worse than the feeling that people can see down your gaping running shorts when you're doing sit ups or leg press. Running shorts are pretty self explanatory, I wear them during a cardio workout and running of course.

11. Hoodie
A thin pullover hoodie is perfect to throw on to leave the gym still looking fab.

12. Makeup bag
A makeup bag with a few essentials will keep you looking fresh after your workout. Facial cleansing wipes work wonders to freshen your face after an workout and to remove makeup before. Deodorant, enough said. Last product in the makeup bag is hand sanitizer to use after touching the sweaty gym machines.

13. Dry shampoo
This is a lifesaver for after your workout to freshen up you hair when leaving. It of course does not substitute for a shower but will allow you to run a few post workout errands.

And that is it for my Gym essentials! I hope this post helped some of you while packing your gym bag.

Shopping trip

I went shopping yesterday (well two days ago now) despite having had knee surgery last Friday. I went downtown with a friend to shop and pick up some sweet treats at a local cupcake shop.

I also chickened out of another American apparel purchase. You know the drill when you fall in love with a piece and try it on and fall in love with it again but can't justify spending so much money. I'm hoping to get at least one thing on my list when I'm in Washington, D.C. next week for back to school shopping. I've been eyeing a denim backpack and a tennis skirt for quite a while now and I think I should treat myself after a long summer of babysitting.

I ended up finding two really cute pieces at Forever 21.

I can't wait to start wearing the striped crop top with a navy skater skirt and brown leather gladiator sandals, I think a cream cardi would complete the look for a school appropriate choice.

Another great find at NRML which I got dragged into by my friend but was pleasantly surprised with the sales. I ended up getting a pair of jellies for 17$! I know summer's almost over but I couldn't pass them up. I have debated whether I like jellies for a while now but after seeing them on countless people on tumblr and Instagram I fell in love. They are childish but I love the look of them with a cute little dress or even some knee high socks.

I didn't pick up too much since I will be outlet shopping and going to a huge mall in Washington. I still felt like the stuff was haul worthy but I will be doing a bigger back to school haul soon.

Back to School Beauty Must Haves

These products are my must haves for the school season. They are perfect for creating a natural makeup look and can be applied quickly and effortlessly.

1. Batiste dry shampoo - this product is amazing for freshening up your hair on those lazy mornings. It keeps second day hair looking even better than first.

2. Revlon eyelash curler - curling your eyelashes can make your eyes look more opened and awake. Great for those early school mornings.

3. eos sweet mint lip balm - this lipbalm is my favourite of all the eos flavours. It's super moisturising and is great underneath lipstick.

4. Mac quad in caviar dreams - this quad is perfect to brighten up tired looking eyes, the top two shades works wonders to brighten, the light pink shade looks amazing on the lid and the grey in the crease is a modern twist from a classic neutral brown.

5. Sephora professional crease brush - a good crease brush is a must have in every makeup collection. This Sephora brush is soft and fluffy and blends eyeshadow flawlessly every time.

6. Rimmel stay matte powder - This powder completes any face makeup routine, it controls shine and keeps skin looking fresh everyday.

7. Maybelline dream fresh bb cream - I've heard so many people rave about this product and I know why! It's truly amazing, it's got light coverage but enough to even out your skintone and give a flawless, healthy look without cakey makeup. Plus it's got SPF 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

8. Mac bare study paint pot - This paint pot is a great base for any neutral eye look. It's a shimmery champagne colour that stays on all day and you don't have to worry about smudging.

9. Rimmel match perfection brightening concealer - A brightening under eye concealer is a must have for any high school student. We all have those days when we are up late doing homework and have to get up super early the next morning for school with tired looking eyes. This concealer will cover the darkest under eye circles and brighten your entire face.

10. Elf eyelid primer - Even though this product is only a dollar it works as well as any high end primer I've tried. It makes shadows appear more vibrant and helps prevent creasing.

11. Maybelline butterfly mascara - Mascara is a must have and can transform you from drab to fab in seconds. If there is one product you want to use, mascara is the one. It can make such a difference.

12. Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in shade 101 - This pinky nude shade is school appropriate and is perfect for an everyday look.

Summer Farewell

School starts in two weeks and I have come to the acceptance that summer is coming to a close.

This outfit was inspired by trends I have observed this summer that I hope will be present next summer. The black and white trend that was present in fall and winter carried itself over to spring and summer and white became the new black. This windowpane pattern has been popping up everywhere and I love how it looks with a pair of white birkenstocks. The grid pattern was really popular in American Apparel this summer. I really cute trend was graphic clutches and I'm in love with this one from Kenzo. This Givenchy tote featured above follows the trend of graphic bags but in a tote style instead of the tradition clutch - which I love. The biggest trend this summer - by far was chunky flat sandals. I was seeing chunky strapped birkenstocks, platforms and metallic accents everywhere. Many magazines and blogs were calling it the "ugly sandal trend" and it definitely wasn't the cutest of all trends this summer but one that stood out.

I've decided to start a blog

I've decided to start a blog to document my style, personality and interests that have taken a tremendous leap in these past two years. I've been into nail art, which turned into makeup thanks to the beauty community on youtube, then it was room décor and interior design, and now my interests include fashion, music and fitness. While I still love painting my nails, doing my makeup and re-decorating my room I feel like my fashion sense has always been something that has been brewing inside, never daring enough to make an appearance. I guess my style has been strongly influenced by people around me, for example other girls my age at school. In the past year I have stepped out of my comfort zone and the feeling to fit in with the crowd when it comes to fashion. Only thing is, babysitting is my only source of income at the moment but I'm working on that. Over the summer I have been into researching trends and applying them to everyday outfits. I'm bored of wearing the same things as everyone at school. My blog will be my little corner of the internet, that combines all my interests into one place. Almost like a catch-all drawer/archive of myself for my future self. I've been on many self expressional areas of the internet such as instagram, tumblr, wattpad, I even had a nail art blog when I was 13. I feel like this blog will be able to bring all those things together to form THIS.
